With this snorkel trip we bring snorkelers to the Caracasbay peninsula on the south-eastern side of Willemstad, Curacao. The area used to be a bunker bay for Royal Dutch Shell but since the company has left the island in 1985 it has been turned into a national park with awesome beaches and incredible snorkeling.
Our first stop will be at Tugboat beach where we can find (you guessed right) the Curaçao tugboat. An idyllic wreck that has been on the bottom since the 70’s and is fully covered in coral and sponges and is the permanent home to a large group of glassy sweepers and other cool fish. Around the wreck we can find loads of yellow tail snappers and Sergeant major who are being attracted by other snorkelers who like to feed the fish. When there is no ship present we’ll go for a swim under the pier AKA “The Cathedral”. An amazing site with tons of orange cup corals and other colorful stuff.
Our second stop will be at Director’s Bay, an amazing bay with a great story!
Be amazed by the view from fortress Beekenburg, dating back to 1703, take a look at the Quarantine building and have a good look over the Spanish water.
During this tour we will provide all the information you want about this special location.
This trip takes about 3.5 hrs.
